Weekly list of people, places and things we noticed over the weekend that might fall on the over-done or overly praised side. Not awful but, you know, just “meh.”

- Massive stadiums for Olympic qualifiers

- Freddy Adu

- Opening coin toss

- “Would you like to make that a combo?”

- “Brilliant save” that’s not really so brilliant

- Atmosphere at BC Place

- “Brought to you by … “

- Calling players “underrated” who are quite clearly rated. And rated well.

    This one really grinds my gears. Heard it in the SKC-FCD highlights about Zusi, and am annoyed weekly by announcers across the board saying how Lindpere might be one of the most underrated players in the league — even though everyone who watches or plays in MLS rates him.

      Yup. Lindpere is one of the habitually “underrated” who hasn’t been underrated for some time. Probably second only to Osvaldo Alonso in this category.
