What they’ll be singing in Manchester tonight (in some parts, anyway)
“The title is all but City’s now!”
So said voice Sunday morning from Newcastle. Manchester City, branded infamously as the “Noisy Neighbors” earlier this year by Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary manager for rival Manchester United, is one manageable night away from taking the club’s first title since 1968.
It’s certainly been a longtime coming for the City faithful, who have had to watch all these years as their crosstown rivals collected trophy after trophy.
Roberto Mancini’s City went to Newcastle today and turned up the needed result, a 2-0 win. So now only a win over visiting, struggling Queens Park Rangers stands between that next, elusive title, the first in 42 years.
If you saw the contest that really mattered, City’s 1-0 win over United last week to set the stage, you might have heard the Beatles’ Hey Jude being sang in the giddy aftermath. That’s because when City last won a title, in 1968, Hey Jude was the No. 1 song. So a tradition was adopted: they sing at happy times, replacing the words “Hey Jude” with “Ci-Ty!”
Enjoy.

Hmmm! So close! Yet so far away at the same time. Survival sunday will be very interesting and wouldn’t it be a heartbreaker for ManCity if QPR gave their best performance of the season by reaching inside their anticipated celebratory chest, squeezing their heart in a cold hearted way until the pressure is so immense that it explodes and it vaporates. Well, at least that’s what every ManUnited fan will be dreaming nightly and day dreaming as well.
What a hollywood finish that would be for ManUnited OR simply a Nightmare on “”Manchester” street for the noisy neighbors.
Let the football roll and let destiny decide how this movie will be finally made.

It’ll be funnier if what you predicted happens, AND United blows it!

@ ndnut- If that were to become true then that would be a Hollywood tragicomedy movie properly titled “The Divorced Manchester and the noisy or nosey Neighbors”. (LOL)
