Seattle defender Zach Scott latest to see retroactive red

It must be especially galling to FC Dallas that a third (yes, count them, three) player has been retroactively red carded for a tackle against FC Dallas.

That’s the same FC Dallas that had to play two men down last week against Colorado. The red cards are peppering the men from Texas in a more timely manner, it seems.

Seattle’s Zach Scott took the full force of the disciplinary committee blow on Friday, when the five-man unit suspended the Sounders fullback for Wednesday’s yellow card tackle on Fabian Castillo.

If you’re counting, that’s twice in four days Seattle got off easy. Over the weekend against Philadelphia, Andy Rose certainly should have been shown red (second yellow, same difference) for hacking down Freddy Adu from behind. Even the Sounders fans thought so.

(And, yes, Scott’s retroactive red qualifies as “getting off easy.” Because the suspension is the same; the difference is not having your team play a man down for the ongoing match.)

Overall, Scott was the fourth Sounders man flashed the retro red. Alvaro Fernandez was cited for embellishment, Eddie Johnson for making a naughty gesture and Leo Gonzalez for a bad tackle.

Here is the Scott tackle from Wednesday that put the disciplinary committee into action.
