Lunchtime distraction: Photo essay of Saturday’s stadium opening

May 14, 2012, 12:45 PM EST

If you can digest a few more leftovers from Saturday’s opening of BBVA Compass Stadium, make it this quick-hit slideshow from the Houston Chronicle.

Included in this swell collection from the local paper are great shots from the stadium’s East stands (with downtown Houston in the background), telling shots of all the orangey fans and a couple of absolutely spectacular shots from behind the goal of Brad Davis’ monumental moment, as the ball escapes D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid.

Enjoy.
