U.S. goalie Hope Solo appearing on next Vogue cover

David Beckham is this country’s only cover-model-worthy Olympic athlete. Clearly.

U.S. goalie Hope Solo is making news even before she puts on the goalkeepers’ gloves.

Solo will appear on the Olympic-themed cover of June’s Vogue magazine, arm in arm with tennis’ Serena Williams and six-time Olympic medalist swimmer Ryan Lochte.

Solo won’t be the big talker for this one; since this is just the fourth time in the magazine’s history a man has featureded on the cover, that will chew up the bulk of the press on this one.

Either way, the U.S. goalkeeper looks quite swell in the shot, which shouldn’t be a surprise since the cover shot is the work of celebrated camera artist Annie Leibovitz.

Beckham made some wow-wow cover-related news himself last month for his Olympic-related appearance on the cover of Elle.

As for Solo and a little more about the Vogue cover and other Leibovitz photos in the June issue, that’s all  here from England’s Daily Mail.
