Match-fixing scandals abroad have usually involved journeymen figures from lower league clubs and nefarious types attached somehow to Eastern European or Far East syndicates.
But this?
And in Italy – again?
Italian police say the latest match-fixing investigation includes some prominent names of soccer in the country. Most notably, police in the northern Italian city of Cremona say Juventus manager Antonio Conte will be questioned. Conte just led Juventus to a Serie A title, the club’s first since it was relegated in 2006 as part of the punishment for club officials’ role in the last such scandal.
Other targets of the current, ongoing investigation, according to reports out of Europe, are Lazio captain Stefano Mauri, former Genoa midfielder Omar Milanetto and Italian defender Domenico Criscito, a member of Italy’s squad now preparing for next week’s European Championships.

Conte was accused by a former Siena player who’s going down in the whole scandal. The problem is that no one confirms his allegations and one of his allegations is that Conte publicly announced the rigged match result pregame to the locker room.
