Oxlade-Chamberlain, Welbeck set to start in England friendly
Jun 2, 2012, 11:05 AM EDT
Getty Images England’s attack is getting younger. And perhaps even faster.
Word from England newspaper is that exciting young winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will start Saturday in the team’s final pre-Euro 2012 tune-up, against Belgium today at famed Wembley. The match is noon today on Fox Soccer Channel.
Young Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck will also start, according to reports.
With Theo Walcott and Ashley Young already on the case for England, the attack already had some serious “quicks.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain, only 18, was something of a surprise to be named to England’s roster. The Arsenal man made his England debut just last week, off the bench against Norway.
Michael Owen was the same age when he burst memorably on the England at the 1998 World Cup. And Wayne Rooney landed with high impact at age 18 during the 2004 European Championship.
