Actually, it was much more unfortunate for Givens considering the dumbfounded look and chalk covered nose on his face the second after he headed the ball back into his own net. It was tragic and hilarious at the same time.

Those of us that have been on any team know that his teammates will probably have some fun at his expense. All in a goodhearted and supportive way, we hope.

Croatia’s third goal was– say– unfortunate for Ireland. I mean the way the ball bounced off Givens’ head.

I’m surprised at the amount of controversy surrounding Croatia’s second goal. Clearly not offside. Wonderfully done by the referee crew, getting it correct in real time.
