What U.S. manager Jurgen Klinsmann said about Tuesday’s 1-1 draw in Guatemala
Jun 13, 2012, 8:25 AM EDT
The U.S. manager knows it wasn’t perfect, but he was happy enough with the 1-1 result, and does not sound displeased with the American spot atop Group A:
Said Klinsmann during his post-game press conference: “Obviously, with the lead one-nil, you want to win it, you want to bring the three points home. We came for three points but I think at the end of the day, the tie, based on all the chances on both sides, is OK.”
That was the gist; he went on to say about the same several times. The rest of his quotes are here, from U.S. Soccer.
The national team will be idle until August, and out of the World Cup qualifier hunt until early September.

Wow, they tied the mighty Guatemala. This is what happens when your qualifiers are against garbage teams, you play down to that level and give your team zero preparation for World Cup teams.

Unfortunately, the USMNT can’t do anything about their CONCACAF opponents. It is the region we live in. You still play the games you are given.

Chances for both sides? The fox match trax showed us taking way more serious shots from in the box. When I saw where Pappa’s goal came from I didn’t believe my eyes. And why were all of our shots off target. Also, it seemed like Dempsey was the only one taking shots.

Over 300 million people in this country and we can’t do better than Jermaine Jones? Really?

Are Germans getting preferential treatment by the coach?

I think he’s right…it wasn’t a must win by any means but rather just happy to not come away with a loss.
