I disagree with this theory, it's entirely based on statistics. What if England can't score and lose 1-0 to Sweden today? Rooney is out, so it is possible. Ireland maybe the worst team in the tournament but they don't match up well with anyone in their group. And theyre quite a few teams who didnt qualify, like the swiss, austria, belgium, norway, romania and israel, who are going to get better, they're windows will open again by the next one. The Netherlands probably won't even advance and they're a world power. If croatia ties spain and italy beats ireland, its entirely possible spain could get knocked out, and theyre a world power too. Quality of play might go down but winning ugly is still winning.
