It’s just a horrible matchup for Ireland. He’re not that quick, not particularly strong or physical beyond their central defense, and we saw on the first goal what happens if they want to put too much pressure on Spain. They maybe should have played a 5-4-1.

The ref just ran over an Irish player (missed the name, but it was #8)! As the ball was being passed to him! Then Spain gets a corner?

I did not hear that, but the funny part for both these teams is that all of their matches are in the same stadium for the entire group stage.

Don’t let 1-1 or the reputations for defend-and-counter fool you. THAT was an enjoyable match. (Particularly in the first half, when the Italians were a little more interested in attacking.)

Neutral. I just see that they took a symbol on their flag and turned it into a uniform. The design on the U.S. shirts aren’t that bad, it’s the numbers being see through gray that causes the problems. I stated here that turning the box where the number goes into a star with a blue outline or a solid blue star and making the number blue or white accordingly would make those shirts look the way only one adjective can describe them- awesome.
