In my opinion, Welbeck and Rooney have played well together for Man U, so Hodgson should go with that tandem up front. One thing for sure, I do hope that Hodgson does not start Walcott and instead brings him as a 2nd half sub; as his speed is use better when running at tired defenders.

Rooney is on a different level than Carrol and Welbeck, he needs to start immediately. You shouldn’t let a few spectacular goals cloud your overall plan, there’s a reason they’re called ‘spectacular’ goals: because they don’t happen often. So the chances of Carrol and Welbeck putting on a performance like that again probably isn’t likely.
