I suppose this is a soccer blogging cliche now. But let’s not let that stop us.
New England forward Ryan Guy connected cleanly in Kansas City on a Lee Nguyen corner kick, one driven with sure authority. Guy’s powerful header went right at SKC goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen, who was able to beat it away at the goal line.
Or was he? If that ball wasn’t all the way into goal, it was dreadfully close. You tell us …:

Camera angle doesn’t help, but it looks like Nielsen’s hands were on the line when he punched it out.

Come on Steve! The assistant referee was right on the line because of the corner, and he had an unobstructed view. That was beaten away from the line. And it wasn’t even that close. May have gotten half way over the line tops.
Just because knuckleheaded announcers say goal line technology doesn’t mean we should follow suit.

Really Chad? Really? You’re relying on an assistant referee in MLS? Really? Have you watched an MLS match before? Are you sure you want to hang your hat on an MLS AR? They are terrible. Please see the PST post about how terrible they were this past weekend. I’m not saying its a goal but if that’s what you’re pointing to, its like saying that Santa exists because presents show up under your tree on christmas day (I’m sorry to break it to you, there is no Santa clause). In summation…really?
