Quick-hit list of people, places and things we noticed over the weekend that land on the over-done or overly praised side. Not necessarily awful but, you know, just “meh.”
- Community Shield
- BeIN Sport (until it gets into more darn systems!)
- Ipswich Town as a potential landing spot for Maurice Edu
- Chivas USA’s playoff chances
- Gatorade (Man, that stuff’s not some kind of magic elixir!)
- “Keys to the match” feature on broadcasts
- Overly chatty analysts on broadcasts
- Home-field “advantage” at Gillete Stadium; the Revs are 29-25-20 there over the last five years
- Store credit
- Pyrotechnics to spice up the pre-game national anthem
- August FIFA international dates
- Any deficit for San Jose (That’s repeated from last week, but sometimes these things deserve an encore)
- Houston’s Luiz Camargo
- August

Speaking of BeINSport (could there be a more awkward, un-catchey name?). Would love for you to do a blurb on what rights they have, when they have them, and on which channels. So confusing! (Plus I’m too lazy to look it up).
