More upheaval at Chivas USA? … You don’t say?

Dear, Chivas USA

I regret to inform you that I have ceased attempting to make heads, tails, or anything in between with you organization.

Talented players come and go …

Potentially talented coaches get chewed up like beef jerky at a biker bar …

You score less than I did in junior high …

Management and marketing strategies slip in and out willy-nilly…

And as for who is in charge … well, who really knows? Especially as the house cleaning continues. This report that GM Jose Domene is out of a job is the latest not-so-shining example.

This conduct has caused supporter distress and, for me personally, more journalistic head-scratching than you really deserve.

We can perhaps re-visit this matter when you get yourself straightened out – and good  luck with all that.

What you didn’t think a new owner would bring in his guys? The change in the past may have been too much, but this is welcome change. We will just have to see what will happen with this new leadership.

I think the real issue about this news is that back on November 13th at Vergara’s press conference he revealed an organizational chart with Domene’s name near the top of it… implying he would be staying at Chivas USA. I think most of us thought that Domene would be gone as soon as the buy-out by Vergara was completed, and that is why the revealing of the chart was a shock to most people. Now there’s a reversal from the supposed plan that Vergara was publicizing.

Not only that, but Vergara’s comments from that same meeting led everyone to believe that a new head coach would be announced in “7 to 10 days”. Clearly that hasn’t happened. And all this begs the question: what the hell is Vergara doing? Is he really capable of turning this organization around? The more I hear, I severely doubt it.

Also, Steve: speaking of house-cleaning, look what the Crew are doing. Seven more players gone today, including Hesmer and four defenders. The only one they ousted that wasn’t carrying a near-season-long injury was Miranda. This leaves them with three defenders on the roster. I’ll wait patiently for your article on these moves tomorrow :-)

Funny, I was just getting some things sorted out for tomorrow (media opportunities and such in California) and thinking that I HAVE TO catch up on the roster movements … Too much going on!

I hate this club. Everything about is a mistake. They are like the crazy ex-girlfriend from MLS’ past, except they aren’t in the past. Somebody really needs to fix Chivas, because it’s not just a club issue, it’s a league issue. Baby Club Xenophobia USA just does not work in the new, successful MLS. In fact, their very existence is an embarrassment. Maybe (but probably not) LA can support two teams, but why not move them to a better market? Why not re-brand the club? Why not not make Vergara learn English (sorry, I had to)?
