Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger shuts door on Thierry Henry loan possibility. No, really, this time!

Emirates Stadium

Less than a week ago, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger seemed to say that a Thierry Henry loan deal would not happen this year.

Well, unless it did happen.

Even when saying that the Red Bulls striker needs to relax and rest his 34-year-old body during the short MLS off-season, he seemed to keep that door open just a teeny tad.

Now, however, it seems that Wenger is finally, really, no-kidding, giving up on luring the fellow Frenchman to the Emirates for a short-term lease deal.

This from a BBC report:

Wenger said: “He is not ready, he has just come back from holiday anyway. At the moment we are not on that case.”

After a 1-1 draw at Southampton on Tuesday, the Arsenal boss said of Henry: “I think he goes away somewhere.”

Asked for clarification, he said: “No [it is not happening]“

Remember, the MLS season begins earlier than ever this year (on March 2). Teams will be in training camp within three weeks. So, truly, any loan deals will be harder to swallow for MLS sides, whether it’s Henry or Galaxy striker Robbie Keane or whomever.
