Mr. Davis,

I have to think there must be something behind all this recent increase in transparency from JK.

My guess is, PR freak that he is, JK is trying to educate the fans on exactly what goes into building a team roster for this sort of thing. I don’t know if he reads soccer blogs but it’s pretty obvious most of the USMNT fans on such sites see it as a fantasy league exercise i.e. you pick the eleven who are perceived to look the best on paper, hence the almost hysterical over reaction to one game, one goal, one mistake, i.e. to almost anything a USMNT eligible does.

Should Eugene Starikov score in his next two games you will immediately see calls for his inclusion in the January camps. Conversely, should Findley go on tear with Forest and get a call up the negativity will be near violent.

The difference is Findley has already been tried and found wanting while Starikov is still an unknown, a grass is always greener prospect.

This makes perfect sense with the news, a few days back, of Alfredo Morales possibly being called into camp. Always got the sense that JK and staff rate him (even if he isn't playing regularly for B2 team). I have no problem with JK utilizing this camp in a non-traditional way. Better to take a look at the famous JK "depth chart" and let the coaching staff see these players up close esp. with a very busy 2013. Inevitably, the camp will be heavy in MLS and younger talent anyway.

Well, you say that ... and I do understand your frustration. But they DO have some great contracts now, like La Liga and Serie A. I don't know about you, but I'd like to watch Michael Bradley play at Roma, Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, etc., on a more regular basis
