Twitter gold: Toronto FC, Ryan Nelsen, Kevin Payne and a club that finally, completely jumped the shark

Jan 8, 2013, 12:18 PM EDT

Toronto has a new manager, Ryan Nelsen. But Nelsen won’t manage just yet. I mean, the man is busy!

The (only semi-serious) timeline of TFC’s half-baked coaching maneuvers can be found here.

Meanwhile, Twitter was invented for this very thing, and business is a’booming! The snark began to flow within minutes of the odd news this morning that Nelsen would wait to begin his days in charge at BMO Field.

Let’s look:

Poor PR move, but that happens when Payne won’t straight out say he doesn’t want Mariner have any part in the Superdraft and leaving the assistant to oversee it

Please oh please let #SMHFC have legs to carry through the full season. Too funny.

QPR is so hard up for good players they need a guy that is going to go to TFC….as a coach ?

Remember when all the Toronto Ultras were mocking the rest of the league? They looked down their noses on NY, New England, C-bus and said, “Why are your attendance numbers so low?”

This is the kind of thing that reminds us MLS is not necessarily major league.
