First off, he did not really kick the young man in the ribs, so most of this conversation is moot. The writer of this article was tricked, along with many others, by the young man/scumbag/ball boy.

Second, a kick to the ribs would not have been a big deal if he had really kicked him. It is a great place to kick someone without doing permanent damage or even really hurting him. Worse happens to thousands of kids every day just horsing around with their friends or picking fights at school.

America is way too sensitive these days. All you sissies who are defending the ball boy are part of the reason the country is going down the tubes. Actions should have consequences. You sometimes cannot act in a just manner without being harsh.

did you even look at any other angles? like berlin said, he kicked the BALL loose from under the kid. also, yeah you do kick a kid if he’s being an ass when he’s as old as this kid was. what would you do, talk sternly to him while he laughs at you? any judge that sees this would not convict you of anything.

He admitted he was intentionally trying to alter the game. He’s a f’n Ball Boy, his job is neutral and should have no bearing on the flow of the game other to act respectfully to both teams.

The kick was extreme, but I don’t blame Hazard knowing that the kid’s intentions. The kid should be banned from working any Match forever.

Few things to point out:

1). The boy’s parents are millionaires and own 22.5% of Swansea City FC. He is 17 and said he was only there because snow delayed the regular ball boy from coming.

2). It was a goal kick, so what was Hazard doing trying to get the ball anyway?

3). Everyone says he was trying to kill time, well maybe he was, but was he going to lay on the ball for 10 minutes? And what happened to that thing called “Extra Time” anyway?

The problem is that he didn’t actually kick the kid. He made a motion with his foot at the ball the kid was holding… and the kid embellished it hardcore. If the guy seriouslly wound up and actually kicked the kid in the ribs, I would be on your side 100%. However I have eyes, and I can see that he didn’t kick this “kid” at all.

Also, as others have pointed out… hes not 12. Read the article better.

Yea… Ha of course an initial reaction is to pummel the kid! Buuuuut hazard really shouldve yelled for the ref and demanded additional stoppage time for the incident.
Im sure the ref wouldve accepted such a plea, the kid would be thrown off the field and the game could continue.

I love the idea that people are defending Hazard’s actions. A 22 year old kicked a 12 year old. I understand that the 12 year old was acting childish, possibly because he was 12 years old, but there is no excuse on this one. No one defended Colin Clark for calling a ball boy an inappropriate word because the ball boy was wasting time in Seattle. What is the difference? If one is worse than the other, you could argue that it was Hazard because he actually got physical with the kid. Either way, don’t excuse these actions.

Dannyboy – Okay, dumb enough to be sent to jail and you’re answering the phones at some law office. That clearly makes you a legal expert on assaulting minors. Please accept my apologies. Feel free to kick some kid in the head and let us know how that turns out for an ex-con such as yourself. Or, better yet, since this way no one gets hurt, run that idea by your parole officer and see what he/she says about that course of action. If you find kicking a kid in the ribs acceptable discipline – or you said “in the head”, then you have failed as a human being. Can’t say I’m the least bit surprised you’re bragging about your felony conviction up above. I never said “don’t punish”. I said you don’t kick. I’m pretty sure he’ll never be a ball boy again. Look at his tweet – “final appearance”. Even he knows he’s done. As I said above, if the rules were set up to punish the home team for the act, this never happens. The ball boy was just an ass trying to give his club an unfair advantage. At least he’s a kid. Kids do stupid things. How many times have you seen a coach “accidentally” hit the ball away with his foot while walking the sidelines? What excuse does a grown man have? As for Hazard, that’s going to be the most expensive kick of his life.
