If it weren't for David Beckham and a few others, MLS wouldn't have even been mentioned on ESPN for many years. I think the league is in a good place now, but Beckham got a lot of people watching and talking about soccer in the U.S. that otherwise couldn't have cared less.

It's not a soccer thing, it's like that in any sport. The most mentioned guy on ESPN last year during football season was Tim Tebow, who is a backup quarterback who can't throw.

ARod is talked about all baseball season whether he is playing or not. It's about ratings with ESPN, they are trying to appeal to everyone, not just the die hard.

Sweet, I am almost never in favor of these big name signings. You find yourself watching ESPN and that is all they can talk about...Inspite of Davis, Ching and Bruin playing against Landon and Omar in the Finals they can only focus on Beckham. Just gets old.

Ex-Euro stars just let us be with our league, either go down and play for a team that will never win, or retire. (Hahnemann gets a pass on this, as he played for the Sounders first)
