ESPN Deportes reporter says U.S.-Mexico bound for Columbus once again
Feb 11, 2013, 9:22 AM EDT
Everyone who knows their relatively recent U.S. Soccer history understands Columbus’ important place. It’s where the United States plays Mexico.
So for the Sept. 10 home date against El Tri, we’ve all suspected Crew Stadium would once again be the preferred destination once U.S. Soccer got the venues all sorted out – something taking longer than all of us would really like.
ESPN Deportes’ John Sutcliffe is reporting on Twitter that the choice has been made, and that there is no surprise on this one.
It’s the right choice, too. It was the right choice back in 2008. It was the right choice back in 2005, when the United States clinched its spot for Germany on a splendid fall afternoon.
And it was surely the right choice back in 2001, in perhaps the most storied home qualifier in U.S. Soccer history, the match known as La Guerra Fria (“The Cold War”).
Just in case you don’t remember that one … brrrrrr!.
