There are no surprises, when you sign Beckham you know what you are getting. Wrong or right he plays by different rules, its just the way it is. The thing is, even at his current age, I think the good far outweighs the bad.

“He won medals and raised the league’s profile globally.” I’ve said the same. I’ve written repeatedly that Beckham did EXACTLY what he was meant to do in elevating the profile. But that has nothing to do with this … he WAS a handful to put up with from a team management standpoint. Frankly, I’m quite surprised he hasn’t trained with the team IN PARIS. (Sorry, but in my opinion, having staff come to him in London is rather silly. The team is in PARIS.)

Mr Davis – respectfully, your article is complete garbage. Last time I checked, the Galaxy won 2 titles with Beckham on the team and lost the Cup Final one other year (3 finals in 5 years). Also guys like Donovan credit him with having turned the team around last year. Just look at Beckham’s stats. Also I believe he returned late from training with Spurs in UK during the winter of 2010/11 whereas it was Donovan (and Keane) who were back late at the beginning of last season. Finally it is incorrect to say he hasn’t trained with his new club. you can find reports and photos online of him training with PSG staff in London last week. Let’s face it – he delivered on and off the field for the Galaxy & MLS, even though there were early problems. He won medals and raised the league’s profile globally. If that isn’t success, please send me the definition. your reporting smacks of the standard anti-Becks crap that uninformed journalists who know little about soccer typically write. He’s one of the sports greats and a great ambassador for his profession. MLS was fortunate to have him and will likely be lucky enough to again when he buys a franchise there.
