    As good as Bale’s free kicks were, Umtiti’s thunderbolt was a world-beater. An ode to the half-volley, sweetly struck.

    Bale’s free kicks were well placed and well hit, but the keeper for Lyon is to blame for both (more the 40 yarder than the 20+ yarder); he was clearly on the wrong angle. I have to agree with dws111, the half volley was far more impressive than the freekicks. I love when balls are hit so well the keeper doesn’t even move. Laser into the top right!
