“A-Rod’s Having A Baby”: Young USWNT fan salvages Bieber hit

Mar 11, 2013, 7:00 PM EDT

I hesitate to link you to this because it’s been stuck in my head for two days. I suppose that’s inevitable given the melody, one that Justin Bieber rode to his breakthrough hit, but don’t let that association disuade you from giving this video a try. Abby O’Connor, a young U.S. Women’s National Team fan, totally salvages “Baby,” and although this is destined to play on repeat in your head, it’s totally worth it.

In case you missed it, national team forward Amy Rodriguez is expecting her first child in late summer and will miss the upcoming NWSL season. To celebrate , O’Connor has honored her with this song, with lyrics combining a number of national team memes along with some factoids you may not have known about the 26-year-old attacker.

Looking through her YouTube channel, you see O’Connor’s a pretty diehard fan, her songs about the team stretching back over seven months. This one, however, is O’Connor’s best work yet.

From the video’s page:

You know you love her, is it the hair?
Just mention fishtail, and A-Rod’s there.
Maybe a side braid? Or just a bun?
Play 90 minutes those things still won’t come undone.

Is it the accents? Girl, quit plain’.
Is that Russian? What are you sayin’?
Said “there’s another”, but won’t tweet the surprise.
A New Kid with a kid for the first time.

Haven’t we reached the limit of nicknames consisting of a person’s first initial followed by “-Rod”? It’s not clever. Stop it.

What is this TMZ soccer style. Why not report on real “Pro Soccer” news. Did ya not notice that the Sounders are verge of signing Obafemi Martins?

Hey, Business McGee. If you want reporting, maybe try a news site instead of a blog.
