Getty Images Nyon, Switzerland. The balls were spun. Breath was held. The draw to the last eight of the world’s greatest club competition was made.
Malaga vs. Borussia Dortmund
Real Madrid vs. Galatasaray
Paris Saint-Germain vs. Barcelona
Bayern Munich vs. Juventus
At first glance the fact that Real and Barca have been kept apart produces a sigh of relief. Dortmund look in good shape as does Real. The other two ties scream glamor and drama.

It’s a pretty strong draw, but then again, there are only pretty strong teams remaining.
Galatasaray is the only team I can’t see advancing, and I imagine most people are the same way. They just don’t have the history or the skill to beat Real Madrid, barring horrific fluke injuries that no one wants to see. It’s also nice to see Madrid catch a break after going from a tough group to an even tougher Round of 16 situation.
I think Malaga and Dortmund could be the best of the bunch, since both teams are pretty much just playing for Champions League glory as the domestic leagues are out of reach (and, in Malaga’s case, completely irrelevant for next year anyway… I’d be shocked if they didn’t put all their attention into this before the ensuing sell off).
I’m most excited for Bayern-Juventus, though. Two historical giants, both in peak form. Can’t go wrong with that.
