Video: Didier Drogba scores a freakish goal

Apr 8, 2013, 12:47 PM EDT

At 35 years old Didier Drogba continues to score freakish goals.

Check out this incredible parabola-shaped lob that the Galatasaray striker scored against Mersin Idmanyurdu on Saturday. Gala midfielder Sabri Sarioglu rips in a cross that, at first blush, looks like it may have taken a deflection off Drogba’s leg. But a closer look reveals that the Ivorian striker definitely intended to put the shot on goal. Totally bananas.

The former Chelsea player’s golazo helped guide Fatih Terim’s club to a 3-1 victory in Istanbul ensuring they stay atop the Turkish Super Lig, two points clear of 2nd place Fenerbahce.

Horrible goal keeping as well. Keeper completely missed on that one.

is it really a golazo if a guy didn’t mean to do it? No way he wanted to pop it in the air like that … and I am pretty sure the goalie could have caught that one without leaving his feet.

if this was MLS people would be calling it a really bad goal keeping not a golazo.

C’mon, if I’m not mistaken the keeper whiffs on it completely and the ball actually goes in off his head or shoulder. Leave aside the moment the entirely reasonable question of whether Drogba meant that as a shot, that’s more of an own-goal than a golazo.
