    These wages blow my mind.

I know. It’s really sad in a way. I’m a big proponent of getting the salary cap up to close to 10 million as soon as possible, the key to this is TV money. I think a big boost in TV revenue is on the way after the 2014 season when all (iirc) TV deals will be renegotiated.

I enjoy MLS, absolutely love watching a few teams that I don’t even follow (RSL & Columbus). The NYRB/Columbus match was a wonderful match to watch, perhaps the best from this past weekend. Good soccer doesn’t require super-stars. However superstars need to be developed within the academy system and more star power is needed within the league.

What are salaries like in some of the emerging world leagues vs MLS? Additionally how does it compare to smaller South American and European leagues, that’s a real litmus test for me. If Ecuador, Peru, Switzerland, Norway, and Austrian leagues are averaging 10-15 mil it kind of gives hope that MLS is not too far away.
