No fewer than five men on the starting lists for Sporting Kansas City and Houston today in the Heartland will soon join up with Jurgen Klinsmann’s U.S. national team.
No MLS match this weekend has as many U.S. internationals.
For the visiting Dynamo, goalkeeper Tally Hall, defender Corey Ashe and midfielder Brad Davis will join up with Klinsmann’s team. Ashe and Davis will depart Monday morning from Kansas City, arriving into Cleveland two days before the Americans meet Belgium in the Ohio city.
Hall will be with the team for only a portion of the next few weeks while Klinsmann rotates third-team goalkeepers through the camp, endeavoring to integrate them while minimizing their absences on the club side. He will remain with the Dynamo through a June 1 against Columbus and then join the national team in Washington D.C. in time for its trip into Jamaica for a June 7 World Cup qualifier.
Ashe was a late call into the camp, extra cover for the thin left back position.
For Sporting Kansas City, Graham Zusi (pictured) and Matt Besler will represent Peter Vermes team in the national colors. Both will join the team Monday in Cleveland
One other national team-related note from Sunday’s match, televised by the NBC Sports Network:
Houston’s Ricardo Clark, who was with the national team at South Africa 2010, will line up at center back on Sunday, helping the Dynamo with its injury crisis there.
