Soccer world reacts, as Royal Baby arrives

Jul 23, 2013, 11:52 AM EDT

From From

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have had a baby son.

Just wanted to remind you in case you hadn’t heard…

After the huge news from England broke yesterday, the soccer community has been responding to the birth of a child who is now third in line to the British throne.

Prince William is of course the President of the English Football Association, and they had this to say:

“The FA is delighted to learn of the birth of HRH the Prince of Cambridge this evening.”

Included in the message was a photo with the England squad pictured alongside William and Kate. The man second in line for the British throne became the President of the FA back in 2005.

While William is also a self confessed fan of Premier League side Aston Villa, and the Birmingham based club Tweeted out the following with this wonderful photo. (How long have they had this lined up?)

And soccer players and pundits around the globe have been commenting on the Royal Family’s newest addition. Including NBC Sports lead soccer commentator Arlo White.

    Please take this crap down. The idea of ‘royalty’ being a moral premise or something respectably decent is as asinine as saying the earth is flat, women with lip hair are visually attractive in western cultures, and maybe we should give neo-nazi’s a listen they might have new and better ideas. Granted a moral monarchy is a far superior system of government to republics or democracies it doesn’t soften the reality that people claiming the right to lord over others as a divine right is any more acceptable than other outdated ideas.

    royalty = just go away!

    The EPL had Sir Alex Whatshisname ruling for two decades and loved it.

    They are enthralled by one of the 370,000 babies born yesterday.

    The British are VERY bizzarre.

    Come on, Guys!

    It’s easy for you all to criticize or downplay the British traditions/culture as bizarre or meaningless. If you are not going to appreciate, then don’t hate either.

    It has nothing to do with British culture, it’s the idea of Divine Right Monarchism that is about as antiquated as slavery…
