Sunderland vs. Fulham: Lineups and Discussion

From Sunderland, two teams looking to improve on last season will do battle in their season opener at 10:00am ET.

Jozy Altidore will make his Sunderland competitive debut at home as London’s Fulham come to visit the Stadium of Light, as one of five new boys in the Sunderland lineup.  Also on debuts will be Ondrej Celustka, Cabral, Emanuele Giaccherini, and Cabral.

For Fulham, Maarten Stekelenburg comes from Roma to make his competitive debut for the Whites, as well as Adel Taarabt on loan from Queens Park Rangers.  Pajtim Kasami will sit just behind Dimitar Berbatov with Bryan Ruiz on the bench having just returned from international duty.  New signing Darren Bent also makes the bench.

Fulham: Maarten Stekelenburg; Brede Hangeland, Aaron Hughes, Sascha Riether, Kieran Richardson; Steve Sidwell, Derek Boateng Adel Taarabt, Damien Duff; Pajtim Kasami, Dimitar Berbatov.
