Crystal Palace started the day with an impassioned attempt to prevent an opening weekend loss, but after goals from Roberto Soldado, Oscar, and Frank Lampard, both the Eagles and fellow promotees Hull City had fallen at the boots of London giants. Tottenham Hotspur started their quest to reclaim a Champions League spot with a 1-0 win at Selhurt Park, while Chelsea finished the day with a 2-0 cruise over the visiting Tigers.

I wish I could have seen the game, and of course, NBC is NOT focused on soccer – so its cycling and motorsports…but no soccer on Sunday when I get home. Shame on NBC. Why pay all this money to buy the rights only to destroy viewership and interest. I was happy when NBC bought the rights because I don’t care for Rupert Murdoch and Fox News…but to their credit Fox Soccer was focused. They had replays etc. Its a real shame. NBC doesn’t understand. They don’t get it. Its focus that got fox soccer ratings and growth. When you have inventory when someone walks into the store – then you can sell the product. If you don’t they walk off and try to find it somewhere else.

You can’t sell toothpaste if its not on the shelf. You can’t sell pants if you don’t have someone’s size. You simply need to have it when someone walks in. I just walked in and NBC had nothing I wanted.

So nothing sold. Less sales means lower ratings for soccer…loss of interest. NBC needs to devote one whole channel to 24 hour soccer. Period. And replay the big games.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, but I enjoyed the coverage all weekend. At one point I was watching Arsenal game on TV and the Cardiff game on my iPad at the same time. I also thought their pre game coverage was ten times better than Fox. I’ve already cancelled the overpriced Fox Soccer channel. Now, if you’re saying that Sunday morning they should have played a game on NBC, I can agree with you on that. Hey NBC, put a game on Sunday morning on the regular NBC channel. It will make you more money than boring bike racing that’s for sure.

The stupid affiliate at the lake house was showing local news instead of the Spurs game. I was not pleased.
