Liverpool will be looking to reclaim the top spot from Arsenal — at least temporarily — as they play host to Crystal Palace today at Anfield (10 am ET, watch live on NBCSN and online via NBC Sports Live Extra). The visitors, meanwhile, are in desperate need of a win, having recorded just one this season, with five losses to their name.
Ian Holloway may have been given the backing of Palace’s leadership, but the Premier League newcomers have done little to prove themselves worthy of staying up. They’ve only managed to notch a win over bottom side Sunderland, and have scored four goals to the ten they’ve conceded. In fact, they’re without a goal in their last three matches. On paper, at least, they don’t look a likely challenger to one of England’s top sides.
The Reds got off to a flying start to the season, but have slipped a bit in recent weeks. Sure, they beat Sunderland 3-1 last time out, but who doesn’t beat the Black Cats? Liverpool go into this match without Lucas, who’s already amassed five yellows, but Raheem Sterling steps in to replace the Brazilian. Luis Suarez, who bagged a brace on his return last week, retains his spot up front.
