Highlights of Jürgen Klinsmann’s press conference before Jamaica match

Oct 10, 2013, 5:00 PM EDT

As is customary the day before international matches, United States head coach Jürgen Klinsmann fielded questions from media members on Thursday, ahead of the team’s World Cup qualifier against Jamaica on Friday. Here are some highlights, tweeted by media in attendance:

Without explicitly stating his lineup, Klinsmann’s comments seem to indicate that Geoff Cameron will start in the middle in place of an injured Omar González on Friday, and DaMarcus Beasley will reprise his newfound role at left back. By being named captain for the game, Tim Howard is set for the start in goal.

Who do you see in your starting 11? What should Klinsmann be trying to accomplish in these last two games, with the team already qualified? Give us your thoughts below.

Please let us see Aron Johannsson play. Just for fun and stuff.

      I’m pretty sure we will.

Johannsson wouldn’t start for the US, but since EJ is injured, I’m sure we’ll see him.

I’d like to see Bedoya try some right back. Kick the tires there. He likes to get forward and he is athletic enough to recover. In a perfect world I’d like to see Lichaj get another look there. Thats just me.

We need to take points from this game to try to finish top of the Hex. Klinsmann wan’t the USMNT to assert it’s dominance in the region. Plus, it teaches the players, regardless of the situation, to take every game seriously.
