PST Extra: Will the Merseyside derby deliver? Plus Southampton’s big test, Spurs’ offensive struggles

Nov 20, 2013, 2:30 PM EDT

This week on PST Extra myself and Mike Prindiville break down exactly what we can expect from Everton at Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Saturday.

Both teams love to stroke the ball around but will defensive solidity prevail in the heat of the battle? We have all the answer in the video above.

Elsewhere this weekend high-flying Southampton travel to Arsenal as the third placed Saints take on the league leaders. Mauricio Pochettino‘s men have been the story of the Premier League season so far… can they keep their fairytale going away at the Gunners?

Then on Sunday, two teams struggling for consistency square off as Tottenham play Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Spurs haven’t been scoring freely, is a recall for Jermain Defoe the answer?

There’s not much of a chance that Defoe is the answer to Spurs’ offensive doldrums. That being said though – short of missing penalty kicks or knocking in own goals he can’t really do much worse than Soldado.
