A video delight: A French twist on Sporting Kansas City’s MLS championship

Dec 21, 2013, 5:40 PM EDT

Two weeks back, Sporting KC was lifting the MLS Cup trophy, having prevailed on the bitterly cold night in the Heartland.

Turns out, French TV giant Canal+ was on hand, having been granted lots of access in the run-up to the big game. It’s really a great look at the entire transformation for the organization, it’s rise from – let’s be honest here – league punch line while playing inside that minor league baseball park to league pacesetters and champions.

It’s heavy on Aurelien Collin sightings, as you might expect, given that SKC’s powerful defender is French and all. But it really is a delightful and informative video – finishing with all the drama of SKC’s penalty kick triumph.

Wow! Awesome outlook reporting which even though i don’t speak french i was able to mostly understand everything. It’s ironic how other countries/media show a higher regard than our own, eggball infested, US media does for football.
