The managerial transition at Tottenham has come at lightning speed, with Tim Sherwood now having secured an 18-month contract to guide the Premier League club.
The club reported through its official site on Monday afternoon (late Monday evening in London) that it had appointed Sherwood to the top spot through the end of the 2014-15 season.
This comes just a day after Sherwood, as the North London club’s interim head coach, secured his first win for Spurs, a 3-2 result over Southampton. And that came just days after Andre Villas-Boas was removed from the managerial seat at White Hart Lane.
Sherwood, 44, met on Monday with club chairman Daniel Levy at the club’s Enfield training ground, where the agreement was apparently reached. Said Levy through the club’s web site:
“We have a great squad and we owe them a Head Coach who will bring out the best in them and allow them to flourish and enjoy a strong, exciting finish to the season. … We are in the fortunate position of having within our Club a talented coach in Tim Sherwood. We believe Tim has both the knowledge and the drive to take the squad forward.”
The club always announced that Chris Ramsey, Les Ferdinand and Steffen Freund will make up Sherwood’s staff for Tottenham.
