CONFIRMED: Clint Dempsey signs 2 month loan with Fulham

Dec 24, 2013, 2:36 PM EDT

Merry Christmas, Fulhamericans.

Clint Dempsey is coming to town!

As expected, US Men’s National Team forward Clint Dempsey penned a deal to rejoin former club Fulham on a two-month loan spell from the Seattle Sounders.

Dempsey left Craven Cottage in the summer of 2012 to join Tottenham for $10.25 million. After spending one year at White Hart Lane – where he scored 12 goals in 43 appearances  – he departed for Seattle last summer on a $9.3 million deal.

“It feels good to be back – this has always felt like my home in Europe,” said Dempsey.

“I want to help the team when they’re in not in the position they want to be in the table.”

Currently 19th in the Premier League, Fulham are eager for new blood to help change the course of things at Craven Cottage. While the club’s biggest hindrance is it’s porous defense – which has leaked a league worst 34 goals this season – the goals (17 in total) haven’t exactly been flying in.

That’s where Dempsey, who scored 60 goals in 225 appearances in his first stint at Fulham, can help. With the poor form of Darren Bent and Bryan Ruiz, combined with Dimitar Berbetov’s groin injury and a rotating cast of wingers (Ashkan Dejagah, Patjim Kasami, Kieran Richardson), there’s plenty of places where Deuce can fit in.

The American’s message is simple: “Going into a World Cup year, I want to get back to playing at the highest level and get back to top form.”

Music to the ears of USMNT (and Fulham) fans.

    @Mike Prindiville ,

    Any word on if he will be on the team sheet for Boxing Day against Norwich?
