Brek Shea may finally see some extended playing time in England, as the American winger is headed to Oakwell Stadium in a 28-day loan deal with Barnsley.

Shea signed on a 4 1/2 year contract for Stoke City in January 2013 for a fee of £2.5 million from MLS side FC Dallas, but has failed to feature often for the Potters.

As he searches for a spot in Jurgen Klinsmann’s summer plans, Shea needs to be on the pitch. He’s played just three times for Stoke, once in the Premier League and twice in the League Cup.

Shea’s featured 25 times for the United States and scored twice for the Yanks in the 2013 Gold Cup.

I never knew there was such thing of a one month loan within England soccer leagues.

I assume it’s just the typical “until the end of the transfer window”, though I imagine that starting so late is rare. Is this perhaps a 30-day tryout for an extended loan through the end of the season?
