City to know more on Samir Nasri injury tomorrow as Pellegrini fears the worst

Mapou Yagna-Mbiwa clattered Samir Nasri to the ground in what at first glance appeared to be a frustrated challenge, and nothing more.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew thought so, and he initially called for Nasri to quit his acting and get up.

But as the French winger writhed in pain on the ground, the replays churned, and the stretcher came out, it was clear there was much more to this injury.

Nasri ended up substituted off, leaving the pitch on the stretcher in the 80th minute in tears, and now Manuel Pellegrini will be sweating on the health of his electric winger.

According to France Football’s Philippe Auclair, Nasri will know the extent of his injury tomorrow after thorough tests.

His manager, however, is expecting the worst.  Pellegrini told Sky Sports he fears the injury is “serious,” telling media it’s the 26-year-old’s knee ligaments he’s worried about.

The City boss was also furious with the decision to simply issue Yanga-Mbiwa a yellow card, calling the challenge “absolutely a direct red card,” a mantra which he repeated twice.

Thankfully for Pellegrini, he received a bit of good news from goal hawk Sergio Aguero, who announced he will return to action against Cardiff City next weekend at the latest.  He did say he could see minutes midweek in the FA Cup replay as well.
