It’s harder than you might think to gain admittance into this country’s National Soccer Hall of Fame; every year, some very accomplished names fail to get the required number of votes.
So it’s quite an achievement when these men and women are recognized. And this year, it’s hard to argue that any of the three inductees, as announced today by U.S. Soccer, are anything but highly deserving.
Brian McBride and Kristine Lilly certainly have done their parts over a number of year to assist the U.S. men’s and women’s national team. And Bob Bradley, while best known for his years with the national team, has done so much more in soccer. (Bradley was selected on the on the “Builder Ballot.”)
Lilly is the United States’ all-time leader in international appearances, with 352 caps over 24 years starting in 1987. McBride (pictured) started matches in three World Cups, in 1998, 2002 and 2006.
More information on the Hall of Fame and on this year’s inductees is here from U.S. Soccer.
