With Real Madrid flying high, it was apparently a pretty easy decision for Sergio Ramos: no.
According to the center back’s agent and brother Rene Ramos, Sergio rejected a number of “very, very big” offers in the last few months.
He would not name the club(s) “out of respect to them” but said the offer(s) were “very, very big in economical terms” and confirmed they came from English team(s).
Many have speculated that the offers could very well have come from Chelsea and/or Manchester City.
The Blues lead the Premier League, but Jose Mourinho managed Real Madrid just last year and could be in the market for a long-term replacement for a few aging central defenders.
Meanwhile, Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City has seen calamity at the back on more than one occasion in recent months, and while their attack continues to blast away at opponents goal differentials, their defense has been shaky at best.
Both clubs would certainly have the financial means to complete such a deal as well.
At 27 years old and his contract not up until the summer of 2017, Rene insisted his brother and client is “at the club we want to be at.” The agent said Sergio is not thinking about an extension at this time either, since those “cause problems.”
