Clint Dempsey takes out his frustrations on Toronto’s Mark Bloom

Mar 15, 2014, 5:42 PM EDT

“Yo, welcome to Major League Soccer, Mark Bloom. I know you played a few games last year after Toronto got you from Atlanta, but you and I? We’ve never met. So just in case you’re unclear what you’re up against at this level, allow me to introduce you to the first division.

Clinton Drew Dempsey”

“Dear Mr. Dempsey,

We need to talk.

Yours truly,

Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee

Toward the end of today’s first half in Seattle, Clint Dempsey had this little interaction with Toronto FC right back Mark Bloom. With his team already down 2-0, the Seattle attacker decided to take out his frustrations on the former Silverback.

The play went unpunished, but caught by NBCSN’s cameras, the contact may draw the attention of the league’s Disciplinary Committee. It certainly was noticed by, who captured Bloom’s misfortune.

You can catch the second half at NBC Sports Live Extra.

That was so egregious I’m not sure how none of the officials spotted it. Then again, this replacement ref was a bit rubbish…

I’m not sure Dempsey actually touched him there, certainly wouldn’t be the first time Bloom faked an injury.

He absolutely touched him. You can see his clothes move. Whether he touched him hard enough for Bloom to react the way he did is another thing, but there’s no doubt there was a touch.
