Mar 31, 2014, 6:29 PM EDT

With NBC Sports’ new series “I Was There“ audiences are transported inside the stadium to experience the frenetic and intoxicating atmosphere of the Premier League from the supporters’ point-of-view.

This week’s edition begins well before kick-off, as Newcastle United supporters hit the road for the longest road trip in the Premier League. And perhaps you’ll be surprised at their antics once the 4-0 loss to Southampton has finished.

I see someone thinks they are special. As a Crew fan, our CLOSEST rival road trip is 25 miles FARTHER, at 328 miles, to Chicago.

I wasn’t actually there, haha. It’s the name of the feature. I smirked when I saw that distance as the longest in the PL. I live in Buffalo, so I feel you.

I know, it wasn’t directed at you, just the hilarity of the EPL and how ridiculously close they are together :)

Next up, RFK Stadium – 413 Miles. Toronto, 421 Miles. Philadelphia Union, 465 miles. Red Bull Arena, 528 Miles. There’s the 5 closest teams in the league for us to drive to. Cry me a river, EPL.

Closest any MLS game for me is 9.5 hours. Not feeling it for the Prem.

read the comment above you. its really not a huge feat to travel 300 miles

You want to know real fans if you use distance as a measure? The fans of the MLS (think the beginning especially) had to and did, travel much longer distances for not nearly as good soccer/football. Although Kudos to still having fun and having a good time, seems like a good bunch
