Aston Villa is the latest Premier League club to announce preseason plans in the United States of America, joining Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City.

According to an Associated Press report, Villa will travel to the States for at least two matches. Both will be in the state of Texas against FC Dallas and the Houston Dynamo.

From the AP:

The English Premier League club will face FC Dallas on July 23 in Frisco, Texas, then play at the Houston Dynamo three days later.

Villa also said Tuesday it will play an exhibition at the Dutch team Groningen on Aug. 2 as it prepares for Premier League openers Aug. 16-17.

United had already announced a trip to the States, while Liverpool and City will also be part of the 2014 Guinness International Champions Cup.

Don’t bother buying tickets for the Houston game. They will never survive the heat in Dallas. Unless they play the game at 3am.

New York is not much better in July. Ever taken a subway there? I assure you it’s hotter sometimes on the platform than even Texas. MLS really needs to alter the schedule to limit the number of games played during the hottest parts of the year and extend the season through December.
