West Bromwich Albion said all the right things on Tuesday regarding the dressing room altercation between Saido Berahino and some teammates that resulted in a head injury for the young English striker.
They said the club “had drawn a line under” the incident, and that everyone was moving forward.
Problem: Everyone’s not.
The culprit, James Morrison, may be facing legal action from Berahino. BBC Sport’s Ben Smith reports that Berahino does not feel he’s received enough support from his club following the incident and is considering his options.
Morrison and other West Brom players were furious after Berahino gave away possession of the ball soon after his cross gave the Baggies an extremely short-held lead in stoppage time. Berahino’s giveaway led to a last-gasp equalizer from Cardiff City in a big six-point relegation match.
The distraction certainly won’t be welcome at the Hawthorns, as West Brom is far from securing its Premier League survival. Cardiff remains three points back, while Sunderland is four back with a match-in-hand.
