Manchester City has a tall task ahead of itself, relying on other teams to help its chances of reclaiming to top spot in the Premier League after Sunday’s 3-2 loss at Liverpool.
And it will be without its most important player for two weeks after Toure limped off early against the Reds. Who knows if the fortunes of the Top Three would be different if the Ivorian was able to go 90 minutes?
Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini said the injury isn’t as bad as first thought — the boss publicly worried Toure would be lost for the year — but he knows he’ll be without the player for Wednesday’s battle with Sunderland and perhaps the following scrapes against West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace.
City is seven points back of Liverpool and five back of Chelsea with two matches-in-hand.
