For those who don’t speak French, we’ll save you the trouble of finding a translator: Manchester United teenage prospect Adnan Januzaj is pledging his future to Belgium.
Could he have swayed the youngster with the promise of a World Cup spot? Now that Christian Benteke is injured, perhaps that was a part of the negotiations (though we’re simply speculating).
Previous reports had speculated that England was the front-runner to land the sought-after international.
Here’s the Tweet from Belgium manager Marc Wilmots, who is thrilled:
J’ai reçu la confirmation officielle qu’Adnan Januzaj se met à disposition de l’équipe nationale belge pour la suite de sa carrière!

And so is Belgium:

The 19-year-old Januzaj has played in 33 matches across all competitions for United this year, scoring four goals and adding four assists.
And seemingly every nation anywhere near his family tree has been creeping on the kid, begging for his signature. There was Turkey. And Croatia. And England (?!?). And Kosovo, where Januzaj’s parents fled from before giving birth to Adnan in Belgium.
Plus the stories that Wilmots had ticked off Januzaj’s dad. Maybe anger promotes respect?
