On Tuesday we asked whether reports that John Terry and Petr Cech were back to training was Jose Mourinho gamesmanship or a true fitness boost for Chelsea ahead of its UEFA Champions League semifinal second leg against Atletico Madrid.

Well it seems Terry has made a surprising recovery and will be available for the Blues at Stamford Bridge, while Cech’s dislocated shoulder will keep him out as expected. In the latter’s case, his participation in training was related to chemistry more than anything else:

“Everybody’s ready and he’s ready and that’s the message we wanted to give,” said Mourinho, 51. “His condition doesn’t allow him to play, but that is the message from him and the group.”

Terry, out of contract this summer, hurt his ankle in the first leg, which finished 0-0. He revealed Tuesday that new contract talks are ongoing between his camp and Chelsea. The 33-year-old has played in 625 matches in his career, with all but six coming for the Blues (He went on loan to Nottingham Forest in 2000).

Eden Hazard will also be fit for Chelsea. Kickoff is at 3pm ET.
