WATCH: The moments after final whistle between Liverpool and Palace

May 5, 2014, 5:54 PM EST

NBC Sports commentators Arlo White and Lee Dixon, and later studio host Rebecca Lowe, said very little as the final whistle sounded on Crystal Palace’s stunning comeback from 3-0 down to draw Liverpool 3-3, putting a severe dent in the Merseyside club’s title hopes for 2014.

Then again, they didn’t have to. Let this video paint the scenes for you, as Selhurst Park sang for its heroes while Luis Suarez and Liverpool supporters found themselves in a sea of tears.

At times it’s tough to watch. Sports.

That was great production quality by the NBCSN crew. Letting the crowd and the players convey the gravity of the match and moment was all that was needed. And staying at the post-match stadium was brilliant.

That was truly one of the best moments in sports commentary I have seen in a long while on American TV. The temptation is to want to insert yourself into the moment and talk about how stunning the result was. Arlo White and Rebecca Low were masterful in letting the stadium sounds and scenes speak for themselves, increasing the gravitas tenfold. As a result, you couldn’t help but feel sorry for Suarez and Gerrard.

I’m not a Luis Suarez fan, nor a Liverpool fan, for that matter (hell, I support City…I _wanted_ a result like this). I’ve always acknowledged Suarez ridiculous skill and talent, but never liked him much. But I have huge respect for his reaction after the match. That’s passion.

I thought the exact same thing as @lunasceiling
