Timing is everything.

One day after Paris Saint-Germain clinched the Ligue 1 title, the club has announced that Laurent Blanc will manage the club through 2016.

It’s been in the works for a while, as laid out by Kyle Bonn in late April, though there was a period recently where some were questioning whether Blanc would stick around Parc des Princes.

The quotes from Blanc and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, from the club:

After signing his new deal, Laurent Blanc said: “I am very happy to continue with Paris Saint-Germain. I want to be a part of this project over the long term, the most ambitious project in european football. Together, we will dream bigger.”

“It is perfectly justified to show our confidence in Laurent Blanc. We are very happy with his results this season, as well as the very attractive football the team has played. We are convinced we will win a lot more trophies together,” declared Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Paris Saint-Germain president.

Blanc’s PSG won Ligue 1, the Coupe de la Ligue and the Trophee des Champions, also reaching the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League. PSG has a 7-point lead on the No. 2 AS Monaco.

There’s a challenge ahead for Blanc, though, as he’ll likely have to contend with sanctions against the club that will directly affect their biggest challenge: a UEFA Champions League title.
